The magical setting of this ancestral home is steeped in History, currently owned by a consortium
of Irish American investors. The first building on the site was by Thomas MacAnerheny in the late
15th, early 16th century, During 1543 the castle was rebuilt by Murrough O' Brien royal
descendants of Brian Boru, the High King of Ireland. and became home to the O' Brien family for
eight generations, In 1800's the present main gothic-styled grey stone building of the castle was
rebuilt. It was eventually sold in 1962 to Bernard McDonough; an American of Irish ancestry with
the O' Brien's still keeping part of the estate.

Dromoland Castle has an onsite helipad (note however Residents use only) just a few minutes’
walk to the main entrance. (Unless early morning or late evening where the landing is located
near the lake on Dromoland grounds so as not to disturb the other guests. You will be greeted
by a uniformed staff member to escort you to the 2minute walk to the main entrance. (If Arriving at
the lake a chauffeur car will be waiting for the 3minute journey to the main entrance)
